aboutme
My name is Hadas Hall, I work as a Ceramic Artist and also teach in my studio.
As a Fashion Designer I worked with textiles for thirty years, sewing many garments by hand. Many of these same skills are now applied in my ceramics. Starting with ideas from sketchbooks I make two dimensional templates which become three dimensional forms. I use the Slab technique for my clay sculpture and use details which relate to the craft of the seamstress such as folds, seams, darts, pleats, tucks and also humour. I am insistent about making things with my hands. My Ceramics are 'Illustrated' pieces using imagery and colours which hark back nostalgically to times of optimism, especially the Fifties and Sixties.....the era of Comics, Pop Art, Robots and Toys .......Tin Toys, Rubber Toys, Plastic Toys.
